Types of Bets in Roulette

Roullete

Roulette is one of the casino industry’s most popular games. Its simple premise has players placing their chips on a special roulette table and betting on which slot the ball will fall into once the wheel is spun. The game is based solely on luck and as such, it’s wildly popular both online and at land-based casinos across the globe.

There are many different types of bets that can be placed in roulette. Each bet has its own odds for winning and different payouts. There are three main categories of bets: inside bets, outside bets and announced bets. Each type of bet covers a different set of numbers, and offers different odds for a win.

The first category of bets, called inside bets, is a group of numbers that cover a small section of the roulette wheel. These include the five numbers in a line (called a “Neighbours” bet) and two neighbouring numbers on each side (known as “Side bets”). In addition, inside bets can also be made on groups of six consecutive numbers (called a “Six Number Bet” or a “Six Line Bet”).

Outside bets are a grouping of numbers based on their position on the roulette wheel. These bets can cover a range of pockets, either odd or even, and on red or black. Unlike inside bets, outside bets offer lower odds for a win and therefore smaller payouts.

Another category of bets, called announced bets, cover a larger section of the wheel. These bets can be made on groups of 12, 26, 27, 32 and 35. In addition, some casinos also offer bets on a single green number, which is known as a “Le Tiers Du Cylindre” bet.

Announced bets are not a standard part of most roulette variations. However, there are some online European roulette variants that do feature these bets. To place an announced bet, a player must use the special racetrack betting section of the roulette table. While these bets can be made on most types of roulette, they are not available in all casinos and some may not have them on their websites at all.
